Governance

St John’s Church is a registered charity and part of the Church of England in the Diocese of Durham.

St John’s is linked in a group with St Margaret’s in Crossgate, and St Edmund’s in Bearpark, within a broader plan for Durham Deanery, and our Rector will have oversight of all three churches.

 

THE RECTOR

The Rev Barnaby Huish is Rector of John’s, Neville’s Cross and our sister church St Margaret’s . He can be contacted via the Parish Office

 

THE CHURCH WARDENS

Jo and Kath, are two elected representatives responsible for the church buildings and finances and for supporting the Rector in leading the Church. Please make yourself known to them.

 

THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is elected to share with the Rector in giving direction to the Church. It performs functions of governance and strategic planning.

 

THE SHARED MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT TEAM(SMDT)

St John’s has had a SMDT for many years in a cycle of three years; we are currently in the process of assembling a new Team. It will comprises of 6 representatives from the congregation and will meet monthly with the Rector. It works alongside the PCC to initiate, develop, support and pray for the worship and ministry of St. John’s.
